Activity: PowerPoint presentation on atomic structure. Students take extra notes on their PowerPoint handouts. Oral quiz at end of presentation. Build an atom internet activity.
Homework: SG 4-2

Tuesday 9-19-06
Activity: Discuss alpha and beta particles and gamma rays used to analyze atoms. Use whiteboards and notebooks. Demonstration of scattering experiment.
Homework: Read 4-1 , Define chapter 4 terms.

Activity: “Atoms Family” analogy of atomic structure.
Homework: Finish labeling atomic information on “Atoms Family” wksht.

Activity: Discuss the periodic table and how it is arranged. Study a memorization tips sheet on common elements and symbols. Play element Bingo to get familiar with symbols.
