November 27 - December 1

Please ask your child what his or her grade is on the Electricity and Magnetism test. Any student who scored below a 70% must get a parent/guardian signature. Any student who fails to do so will be kept in for recess detention until the test is returned to me with a signature.

Monday 11-27-06
Activity: Observe and draw a concave and a convex lens. Discuss reflection and refraction and what causes each to occur (behavior of light). Think about how light reflects and/or refracts with each lens. List real world examples of each. Try to bend light using water and a spoon, then pour water in a cup until you see a penny (up against the side).

Homework: Finish color lab (due Tuesday)

Tuesday 11-28-06
Activity: “Looking at Images” lab activity

Wednesday 11-29-06
Activity: Create a station model for a city of choice using geometer sketchpad.
Homework: Print and finish your station model.

Thursday 11-30-06
Activity: Graphic organizer for molecular structure and behavior to be completed with demonstrations of the concepts related to molecular structure and behavior (evaporation: alcohol, condensation: ice water, sublimation: dry ice).
Homework:

Friday 12-1-06
Activity: Draw and label a diagram of the layers of the atmosphere with 2-3 characteristics mentioned in each layer of the diagram. Use the internet as a resource. Things to think about: temperature, thickness, distance from Earth’s crust, benefits from layer, dangers of layer.
Homework: SG 7-1, Notebook check Monday
